Lack of Job Opportunities in Kenya:More Youths Remain to be Unemployed

By Lucy Wanjiru

Kenya is facing a growing crisis of unemployment, with millions of young people
struggling to find jobs. The lack of job opportunities has become one of the most
pressing issues in the country, leading to widespread frustration and disillusionment
among the youth. Despite being highly educated and skilled, many young Kenyans are
unable to secure employment, forcing them to rely on informal work or remain jobless.

Gen Z, who make up a significant portion of the unemployed population, are particularly
affected by this crisis. They are increasingly vocal about the challenges they face in
finding jobs and are demanding that the government and private sector take action to
create more opportunities. The younger generation is advocating for policies that
promote job creation, including investment in industries that have the potential to absorb
large numbers of workers, such as manufacturing, technology, and agriculture.

The lack of job opportunities is not only a threat to the economic well-being of the youth
but also to the stability of the country as a whole. Gen Z is warning that if the issue is
not addressed, it could lead to increased poverty, social unrest, and a loss of faith in the
future. Their message is clear: the government must prioritize job creation and ensure
that every young person in Kenya has the opportunity to build a successful and fulfilling
career.
