By Lucy,
Hundreds of Kenyans have gathered at Uhuru Park in Nairobi for the Mashujaa
Memorial Concert, organized to honour the 43 Kenyans who lost their lives during the
recent anti-government protests.
The concert, spearheaded by activist Boniface Mwangi, saw the participation of about
30 Artists, including notable names such as Juliani, Octopizzo, Eric Wainaina,
Khaligraph Jones, and Trio Mio. “Kenyans are the organizers of this event. We want to
celebrate the Sacrifice of those killed by the police,” said Mwangi, adding, “The struggle
continues. This is a fight for liberation from the lords of poverty and leaders who take
advantage of the Kenyan People. The event was not just a concert but a powerful act of
remembrance and solidarity.”
Attendees erected crosses bearing the names of those who have died since the start of
the Protests at the Uhuru Park grounds. This poignant display served as a stark
reminder of the Human cost of the recent demonstrations.
The Mashujaa Memorial Concert highlighted the ongoing struggle for justice and
accountability. It was a moment for the community to come together, mourn their
Losses, and renew their commitment to the fight for a just and equitable society. As the
Music played and the names of the deceased were honoured, the spirit of resilience and
Hope resonated throughout Uhuru Park, reinforcing the call for lasting change and an
end to the violence against peaceful protesters.
