A peaceful protest by Generation Z in Nairobi turned chaotic and violent when goons
disrupted the event. The demonstration, held as part of a series every Thursday and
Friday, addresses critical issues such as high unemployment, corruption, and poor
governance.
Initially, the protest was marked by orderly marches and chants calling for systemic
change. However, the situation took a drastic turn when a group of armed goons
infiltrated the crowd. Witnesses reported that these individuals began inciting violence,
attacking protesters, and damaging property.
The sudden eruption of violence caused panic among the demonstrators. In the ensuing
chaos, clashes broke out between the goons and the protesters, leading to injuries and
further destruction. The police, who had initially maintained a presence to oversee the
peaceful protest, responded with tear gas and arrests in an attempt to restore order.
Human rights organizations have condemned the disruption, alleging that it was a
deliberate attempt to undermine the legitimacy of the protest. They have called for an
investigation into the identity and motives of the goons, as well as protection for
peaceful demonstrators.
The incident has intensified the resolve of the young activists, who vow to continue their
weekly protests despite the threats and violence. The government is now under
increasing pressure to ensure the safety of protesters and address the underlying
issues fueling the unrest.
