Continued Unrest of Gen Z as They Plan Demonstrations Every Thursday and Friday

By Lucy,

The wave of unrest among Generation Z in Kenya shows no sign of abating, as they
have announced plans to hold demonstrations every Thursday and Friday. This
movement, primarily driven by young people, is in response to issues including high
unemployment rates, corruption, and poor governance.
The protests, which began in response to proposed tax hikes, have evolved into a
broader call for systemic change. Gen Z activists are using social media to organize and
mobilize, highlighting their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs and demanding
accountability from the government.
Their persistence has drawn significant attention, both locally and internationally. The
protesters advocate for a more transparent and inclusive political process, better job
opportunities, and stronger measures to combat corruption.
Despite facing a heavy-handed response from law enforcement, including arrests and
use of force, the young demonstrators remain undeterred. They argue that their future is
at stake and that meaningful change is necessary for a better Kenya.
As the weekly demonstrations continue, the government faces increasing pressure to
address the concerns of this vocal and determined generation. The ongoing unrest
underscores the urgent need for dialogue and reform to address the grievances of
Kenya's youth.
