12th September is a day to remember for the people of Kilimani Location. The commissioning of the new Chief’s Office at Kambi Thomas by Area MP Madam Janet marks a huge milestone for the community. This is not just a building it is a symbol that the government, through the CDF of Turbo Sub-County, is working to bring services closer to the people.

For many years, residents of Kilimani had to travel long distances, over difficult terrain and poor roads, just to access simple administrative services. What should take minutes took hours. People were often forced to put off important matters due to the struggle involved in getting to the Chief’s office.

While officially opening the new office, Madam Janet insisted that residents make full use of it, reminding everyone that, “This office belongs to the common mwananchi.” Her message was clear: the government is delivering, and the people must now take advantage of what is theirs by right.

The Constitution of Kenya, Article 6(3) clearly states: “A national State organ shall ensure reasonable access to its services in all parts of the Republic, so far as it is appropriate to do so having regard to the nature of the service.”

With this building now complete and functional, the promise of the Constitution is alive in Kilimani.

The Chief, Madam Gladys, was all smiles. She expressed her joy and relief, saying, “Now I can serve my people better. Moving from a makeshift office to a proper centrally placed one is not just about comfort it’s about dignity and efficiency.”

Mr. Rogers, a long-time resident, shared his experience: “We used to strain just to get small matters sorted. Sometimes we would give up altogether. But now, having the Chief’s Office nearby gives us hope. We feel seen. We feel served.”

This project is proof that when leadership listens and acts, communities grow stronger. It is a reminder that government should be felt, not just heard.

The people of Kilimani have waited and today, they celebrate. The promise is no longer just words. It stands now, bricks laid, alive and real.
