We Are Not Terrorists

The youth from my motherland are weeping, baseless boys behind bars,

Our neighborhood infrastructures are leaking, rotten routes for emergency cars,

Local businesses in hoods are limping, tamed by the taxman’s overtures

Our public debt is crippling, with maimed Mwananchi mourned after tortures

In my country today, seeking is risking, more so answers from ranchers,

Our constitution is suspended in delay, as the public dances for honchos,

Youth whose fears allay, are gunned down by state-groomed hunters,

Today, your voice dare not be on display, unless you chanting their mantras

In Kenya, terrorism is asking for your country back, and claiming your dignity

You dare not announce your entitled lack, and threaten the country’s stability

The political class perceives terror in knack, and the defense of our sovereignty

How dare the pauper’s spawn rally with plaque? This race was meant for nobility
