We Long for the White

We bleed Red – running from rogue regime raiders

Our ancestral blood still percolates

deep in the womb of our soil

We live in haunted lands – where invaders bade for our blood

since birth, we’ve inherited pain

and remain in our tradition of bondage

We remember freedom fighters – lost in moans of robbed souls

yearn for their primal courage

Hoping to honor ghouls long gone – and hail lore of heroes who rose from our bones

We’re unapologetically Black – from our skin to dark days of slavery

sun shone on bare backs to dry deep wounds –

generational scars healing in the dark

We’ve known oblivion – reeling in consuming emptiness of an assuming universe

absorbed in black holes of decadence

living in the dusk of our existence

For the ebony man and woman – enveloped in darkness

our sooty skin was made for chimneys

We’re foreign to sunrises – and the refreshing breath of living rooms

As erstwhile tillers of the Land – Green has grown into a dimming Dream

our oral hymns revere rainmakers –

and ancient gods long for burnt sacrifice

beggars in our lands – we’ve lost sovereignty of our seeds and security of our food

Corporations consolidate our arable lands

for Capitalistic gains or theft of our gems

Squatters in our homeland – black man thrives on his labor

Our genes are attuned to the turmoil of toil

We’ve forgotten our organic communion with land – and its essence to survival

We long for the White – dove demonstrating the soul of our Nation

we ache for archaic calm –

silent resurgence of Patriots

we pray for peace in pastures – serenity in consumption of greens

fair fractions of National cake

dusted racks for revolutionary boots

artless siestas under sketched skies – a touch of the horizons with every stretch

We crave for the camaraderie of brotherhood

An end to tyranny – beginning of the reign of social justice and the rule of law
