They Say, Youth are the Leaders of Tomorrow,

We Say, Youth are the Leaders of Now,

They Say, Youth need to calm down as they’re shown the ropes

We Say, your ropes are nooses that hang us – We shall farm our crops

We’re now sowing seeds of a Ballot Revolution,

Yet their nooses tighten round our necks – but still we dream,

Youth without IDs lack the agency with which to organize their motion

This is by design – even the IEBC is in sync with their hymns

Still, with nothing left to lose, the young men hunt,

They toy with danger in their pursuit of big game,

driven by the guarantee of an end to poverty even as some eyes shut

for without IDs, no school, no pay and zero jobs, the Youth are tamed

They Say, Youth are Untaught, Untoward, and Unbecoming,

We Say, Kenya’s problem is a failure of Leadership,

They Say, Youth are a volcano that needs suppression before erupting

We Say, Our IDs are not tools for censorship – Our Vote will save the mothership
