Of Hopeless Youth and Decapitated Dreams

Let’s talk about the silence in the aftermath of the “six-piece” symphony,

How thirsty vocals were quenched by drips of vacant promises,

And how these now-idle voices are drowned in cacophony –

Chained dreams with no jobs, like unanswered devotions in the diocese

Yet, as dreams of Hopeless Youth are battered by extractive systems,

Mama Mboga stands and Boda Boda shades are charmed by “empowerment”

Stagnant youth in the plains of Kamakowa are frustrated by the -isms,

Without formal structures, chained by corruption, and a reluctant government

For the few, whose dreams long linger on deathbeds, Kazi Mtaani dangles,

At least, as a means of resuscitation, before permanent eradication

You see, these Hopeless Youth are but pawns – just mere game in their jungle,

Without civic awakening, their dreams are but delayed heads for decapitation
