After years of waiting, Bandani residents can finally see change under the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project (KISIP2). The construction of key access roads is not just improving mobility; it is also creating new connections and opportunities for the community.
On the ground, the Auji, Pundo Road is progressing quickly. U-drain work is nearly finished, and the installation of precast slabs is ongoing. Once complete, the road surface and final tarmacking should be finished by the end of November.
Even more transformative is the upcoming Pundo, NITA Road. Construction will begin soon after a breakthrough agreement on the wayleave. This important link will finally connect Bandani to the main highway and the Kisumu CBD, addressing a long-standing challenge that has limited access for residents, traders, and service providers.
In the Migosi settlements, drainage work continues to improve stormwater flow and sanitation. In Kibuye, under Lot 2, Stonefield Company is steadily advancing drainage and walkway work. The Kibuye Settlement Executive Committee Chair has shared that the community is happy with both the speed and quality of the work.
During two days of site visits, the County Project Coordination Team (CPCT) coordinator, Mr. Patrick Ogunde, praised the contractors for their progress. He encouraged them to maintain quality and speed as the work nears completion.
Kisumu’s transformation is unfolding steadily: One settlement, one road, one community at a time.
