“Governance?... Saa hii ni kama slogan tu”

They say governance is the backbone of a nation,

But lately, hiyo mgongo imekatika somewhere between promises and parliament motions.

Wanasema the youth are the future —

Yet the same future imekuwa postponed kama government projects:

“Coming soon…” but never arriving.

Saa hii watu hawapendi kuskia governance,

Because imekuwa kama ringtone hatutaki but hatujui ku-off.

Corruption imekuwa chorus,

Tax imekuwa verse,

Na leaders wanaspit lies kama punchlines zenye hazijarhyme.

The people are tired.

Youth are tired.

Tumekaa tukisikia “we are listening,”

Lakini ground ni different —

Unga iko juu, rent iko juu,

Na hopes za vijana ziko chini kabisa, deep down kama deleted files.

Election day inafika,

Ballot boxes ziko ready,

But youth wanabaki kwa bed wanasema:

“Vote? For what?

For who?

For nini?

Hata tukivote, life haitabadilika.”

Apathy imegrow faster than economy.

Trust ime-expire kama milk ya jana.

Na politicians wanakuja na manifesto zenye hazina manual.

But here’s the truth we fear to face:

When the youth step back, bad governance steps forward.

When we stay silent, others speak on our behalf.

When we don’t turn up, they turn us down.

When we avoid the table, they serve us the bill.

Sisi ndio tunateseka,

Sisi ndio tunaumia,

Sisi ndio tuko kwa queue ya joblessness longer than any voting line.

Governance si kitu ya kuogopa,

Ni kitu ya kuchange.

Ni kitu ya ku-own.

Ni kitu ya kusema,

“Hii nchi sio ya wao — ni yetu.”

Sio lazima tupende leaders,

Lakini lazima tupende future yetu.

So youth,

Tusikufe moyo.

Tusikufe hope.

Tusikufe voice.

Because a silent generation births loud oppressors.

Let’s rise.

Let’s speak.

Let’s vote.

Let’s push governance back to what it was meant to be —

Service, not status.

Promise, not power.

Leadership, not theatrics.

Kwa sababu mwisho wa siku,

A nation changes when its youth decide enough is enough.
