Just the other day, I met up with the Market committee at Sondu
From displayed trays, a story emerged of two tales,
Of a Market divided in its ways, one people divided by tribe
Divided by border, Sondu market harbors business unusual,
Traders are resistant to orders, hardened by Kalenjin-Luo conflict
Bad blood between herders, spilled on stalls across borders
A Market in need of a retinue, Kericho and Kisumu are silent,
Two years of uncollected revenues, and garbage piling into a dumpsite
A cow market left with beef to chew, with livelihoods lost over feuds
