BREAKING BARRIERS

Leo kondele ilisema ukweli bila kuficha

Faces zetu, the youths

Hopes zikiwa bright

Lakini pockets zetu hazina the one thing

That opens doors

That write our names into the nations story

ID.

Mass registration

Hapa kwa mtaa

Kwa dust

Kwa hustle

Kwa kelele za biashara

Ilituonyesha kitu muhimu

When you bring the system closer to the people

The people finally step forward to be seen.

Kisumu ilitupa ushaidi tuliohisi for so long

That barriers si za roho pekee

Ni za distance

Ni za cost

Ni za “natarudi kesho” that never comes

Because the office is too far

And life is too heavy.

Vijana walifurika

Walking with shy smiles and strong hopes

Wakisema

“Sasa ni wakati wangu”

And in that moment, tuli – elewa

Bringing the mountain to the youth

Makes them climb higher.

Juu we’ve been shouting

Singing

Pushing this message

That access is power

That identification is identity

That to belong, you must be recognized

Na leo, mtaa ilijibu

Ikisema

“Yes. Its true

All along, mlikuwa mnasema ukweli.”

And the exercise confirmed it

The advocacy ikishow na product

That when you break the barriers

The youth don’t just show up

They rise.

And maybe

Just maybe

This is the beginning of a country

That meets its young people where they are

Instead of where they struggle to reach.

Kondele spoke

Milimani responded

Na vijana walisema kwa sauti moja

“sisi pia ni wa kenya”

Tunataka kuhesabiwa.

Breaking barriers

Bringing identity home

One ward

One youth

One future at a time.
