CLASSROOMS OF HOPE

By Alex Maina

In Turbo Sub-county, something beautiful is happening. Slowly but surely, education is rising one classroom at a time. The National Government, through the Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), has stepped in to support schools in a way that is bringing real change to learners, teachers, and entire communities.

At Salvator Mundi Secondary School in Murgusi, Ngenyilel Ward, the sight of a new 2-storey building with 8 completed classrooms has brought smiles to many faces. For years, students studied in crowded and sometimes worn-out classrooms. Teachers struggled to manage large classes, and many learners couldn’t concentrate. Now, things are different. There is space. There is light.

Jane, a student at Salvatore Mundi, shared with joy, “Before, our class was too full. We could not even hear the teacher well. Now we sit comfortably, and we feel proud of our school.”

Mrs. Achieng, a teacher at Salvatore Mundi, said, “These new classrooms have changed how we teach. Students are more focused, and it is easier to give each child attention.”

In Huruma Ward, Kandie Primary School also received 2 new classrooms. For a long time, young pupils had to share classrooms, and learning was tough. But with these new additions, learning has become easier and more fun.

Mr. Mwangi, a teacher at Kandie Primary, said, “The new classrooms bring hope. Our learners now have a better place to study, and as teachers we can focus more on our students and make them better.”

Far from there, in Mogoon Primary School in Ngenyilel Ward, 2 more classrooms have been completed. It may seem like a small number, but to the pupils and teachers there, it is life-changing. The new rooms give them space to dream, to learn, and to grow. Being a public school means you have very many learners in class.

Miss Wanjiru, a teacher at Mogoon Primary, said, “These classrooms mean the world to us. Additional classes means more spaces and less congestion in classes. This means we will be able to focus on our students and give them better support.

These developments are more than just buildings. They are signs of progress. They show that the government cares. They show that the future of the children in Turbo matters.

Other classrooms are also being built and are currently in progress. The work is not yet done, but the steps taken are strong. Every classroom built is a door opened. A chance given. A life lifted.

Turbo Sub-county is changing. And at the center of that change is education strong, steady, and full of hope.
